Early Intervention
Early intervention can be really powerful to support your child to reach their full potential. Taking a collaborative and holistic approach to supporting your child's communication.

Early intervention focuses on building connections through a strength based approach, supporting neurodiversity affirming approaches and considering each child individually and holistically. It is placing importance on recognising all forms of communication, supporting sensory processing needs and building on your child's play preferences.
Top Tips

Connection
Take time to observe what holds your child's attention the most; thinking about what they enjoy. This could be physical movements, sensory activities, or a particular toy or song. We want to join in with their play and connect with them building connection rather than expecting compliance.

Visual Supports
Young children can often use other forms of communication, before they are using verbal communication. You could try to use some early Makaton signs with your child to support their understanding and communication. You can also use some real objects to offer choices and link these to certain times of the day.
